Roads

Travelling and living abroad is healthy. You learn to appreciate things that you might have otherwise taken for granted.
The first thing that I noticed when I returned to Finland after a week of working in Russia were the roads. I was once again able to dwell in my own thoughts while walking on the streets of my home town and after a while realize that I have arrived at work. The only time you need to concentrate is when you're crossing a road so you don't get run over. In Russia walking requires absolute concentration. In the town where I work, longest strips of undamaged road are less than 10 meters long. You have to pay attention to every step if you want to avoid falling in cracks or tripping over random bumps. Seriously, walking in Finland after a week in Russia felt great
